Bob Adkins is an American. Born into poverty in Rock City, West Virginia, his family consisted of 10 children: 5 girls and 5 boys, including Bob. His father died when he was 8 years old while the family was in northern Florida. This left many hungry mouths to feed, and the children were sent out to work for farmers every day before school began. He attended school up to the 8th grade (but later received his diploma at the age of 48). The family lived in what was once a one-room schoolhouse and they often had to find their meals by trapping and hunting in the surrounding woods and bogs.
When his country drafted him, Bob went into the U.S. Army A-CO 1-505 Infantry. He did his basic training at Fort Polk Louisiana. He continued his training in jump school at Fort Benning, Georgia. From there he was sent to Vietnam attached to the 1st Cavalry Division Airmobile. He served as a radio operator and was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. After seeing enough of what war can do, he came home to the country he loved, and the woman he adored. In 1968 he married the love of his life: Carol Jean, and they had two children, a boy and a girl.
Bob Adkins has been a resident of Saint Cloud, Florida since 1963, and he is the owner of Cody Construction. Through his work he has maintained a strong work ethic. He has had a long record of fighting for the Rights of the American Citizens. His former political races have included the positions of County Commissioner (twice) and Governor for the State of Florida (twice). Bob Adkins has never been one to back down from a fight, and each fight that faces him seems to only make him more determined to bring the power of your government back into the hands of the Citizens.
Bob believes that your vote is the most powerful weapon on earth, for by it you decide the future of this country, and the world!
The United States Constitution states that the qualifications for President shall be:
"a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
Notice that it does not say that the person must be a millionaire with connections. Nor does it say that the person be affiliated with a 2-party system. Instead, it only states that the qualifications to be President of the United States of America are only:
1. That the person be a natural born Citizen.
2. That the person be at least 35 years of age.
3. That the person be a resident of the United States of America for at least 14 years.
However, the heart of the matter is not who CAN run for the Office of President, but who HAS run for that office. With each Presidency that passes we see so much that was wrong. It may be in the election process itself (please see Not Again) or it may be the parties and political favoritism that pervades Capitol Hill. These mistakes that Presidents and their Cabinets make slowly strip away the Constitutional Rights and Powers that our Forefathers fought so hard to give us. Should we hand these rights over? Or should we take control of our government once again and make it "of the people, by the people, for the people..."?
For over fifty years we have had Presidents whom lived lives beyond the reach of the average Citizen. They were either raised in the lap of luxury and surrounded by wealth and influence, or they were blinded by corporate greed and political platforms that they lost sight of the people they were elected to serve: us, you and I. We are the Citizens of this country, and we are the ones that they should serve. Yet they don't serve - they rule. We need a Citizen to serve Citizens. We need a working person to serve the working class. We need a man who doesn't look down on America from a party platform, but a person who looks to the Citizens he serves. We need a new kind of person in office: we need
